OYO GOVERNMENT PROMISES TO INSTALL MORE ONE-WAY TYRE SPIKES TO ADDRESS DRIVING AGAINST TRAFIC
In a bid to curb the menace of wrong-way driving, the Oyo State Government has pledged to introduce more one-way tyre spikes across the state. 

The initiative is part of the state Government’s efforts to enforce traffic laws, curb reckless driving, and reduce accidents caused by one-way driving.

The introduction of this one-way tyre spikes at the Idi-Ape area of Ibadan is a proactive measure to address the persistent problem of wrong-way driving in the state which has been identified as a major contributor to road accidents in the state.

In their various reactions the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), Major Adesagba Adekoya RTD  and the State Commissioner for public Works and Transport Professors Dawud Sangodoyin, said the introduction of the  one-way tyre spikes is a proactive measure to address the persistent problem of wrong-way driving, which has been identified as a major contributor to road accidents in the state.

The duo who also hinted that the state government  has identified more strategic spots where the device would be installed, gave assurance on the maintenance of the device.

By combining this initiative with other measures, such as public awareness campaigns and stricter enforcement of traffic laws, the Oyo State Government is demonstrating its commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users.

Speaking with Newsmen some residents and Motorists who ply the road said that the innovation has helped reduce one way driving which usually causes accidents in the area, as they also expressed concern over its maintenance.
