BREAKING: Petition For Natasha’s Recall Did Not Meet Requirements — INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that the petition seeking the recall of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, falls short of requirements. Specifically, the petitioners failed to provide their contact address, telephone number(s), and e-mail address(es) in the covering letter, as mandated by INEC's Regulations and Guidelines.

This omission is a significant procedural flaw, and INEC is now attempting to reach the petitioners through alternative means. Once the petition meets all submission requirements, INEC will proceed to verify the signatures in an open process at polling units, using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to ensure authenticity.

The recall process, if validated, will follow constitutional procedures, potentially leading to a referendum where voters will decide whether Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan retains her seat or is removed from office. INEC has reassured the public of its commitment to a transparent and lawful process, urging people to ignore speculations and misinformation circulating on social media regarding the petition.
