"CHAIRMAN ON THE BRINK: Ibadan North East LG Boss Faces Suspension for Gross Misconduct"

"CHAIRMAN ON THE BRINK: Ibadan North East LG Boss Faces Suspension for Gross Misconduct"
The Oyo State House of Assembly has received a recommendation from the Ibadan North East Local Government Legislative Council to suspend the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Akinsola Akintayo, for gross misconduct and violation of the Oyo State Local Government System Law, 2001.
The recommendation, signed by the Leader of the Council, Igbalajobi Adekola AbdulMajeed, and other council members, cited several instances of misconduct by the Chairman.

The Chairman's misconduct includes:

- Withholding of the Council Mace: Using it against the Council, which is a clear abuse of power.
- Incessant Traveling: Traveling outside the country without proper handing over to the Vice Chairman, which raises concerns about accountability and responsibility.
- Insurbordination: Disregarding the officers of the Local Government, which undermines the rule of law and good governance.
- Expenditure of Local Government Funds: Spending funds without budgetary allocation, which is a clear violation of financial regulations.
- Beating and Molestation: Allowing members of the Voluntary Policing Sector (V.P.S) to beat and molest a Supervisory Councillor, which is a serious human rights violation.
- Lack of Meaningful Projects: Failing to initiate projects that benefit the people of Ibadan North East Local Government, which is a dereliction of duty and a failure to promote the image of the Political Party in the Local Government Area

The Council's recommendation is based on the provisions of Section 21 of the Oyo State Local Government System Law, 2001, which empowers the House of Assembly to suspend or remove a Chairman who has committed gross misconduct or violated the provisions of the Law.

The Oyo State House of Assembly is expected to consider the recommendation and take necessary action.
