Dr. Doyin Okupe, a renowned Nigerian physician, politician, and former presidential aide, has passed away at the age of 72. He had been battling cancer for 16 years, initially diagnosed with prostate cancer, and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.

Okupe's political career spanned several decades, serving as Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Olusegun Obasanjo and Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan. He was also the Director-General of Peter Obi's Presidential Campaign and a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu's administration after the 2023 general election.

Okupe's health had deteriorated significantly in recent weeks, with sources close to the family confirming his passing. Tributes have begun pouring in, remembering him as a kind, compassionate, and principled individual who dedicated his life to serving others.
