Amuloko Market Gets a Fresh Start as Environmental Health Officers Restore Order in Ona Ara

Amuloko Market Gets a Fresh Start as  Environmental Health Officers Restore Order in Ona Ara
March 6, 2025, marked a transformative moment for Amuloko Market in Ona Ara Local Government Area. The ever-busy market, known for its vibrant trade, witnessed a major sanitation exercise led by a dedicated team of Environmental Health Officers (EHOs), bringing long-overdue order and cleanliness to its streets.

Kicking off at 8:00 am, the operation saw traders and residents actively participating in a coordinated cleanup effort. Shops and stalls were temporarily shut as EHOs, equipped with padlocks and ropes, worked alongside market women wielding brooms, shovels, and other cleaning tools. Together, they unclogged drainages, cleared roadside obstructions, and ensured a cleaner, more organized marketplace.

This remarkable initiative was made possible through the commitment of Ona Ara Local Government Chairman, Hon. Temitope Kolapo Glorious, who provided crucial support for the EHOs. Additionally, San. Mrs. Popoola Rasidat Omowunmi, Acting Head of Local Government Administration, played a pivotal role in facilitating the exercise’s seamless execution.

For long-time traders like Mrs. Funmilayo, the cleanup was a welcome change. "We've been voicing our concerns about the market's condition for years. Today, we are finally taking action. Seeing our market this clean fills me with pride," she shared.

Led by Ag. Director San. Jimoh S.A., the EHOs collaborated closely with market leaders and traders to ensure the exercise's success. San. Layinka Olubunmi Anike, Acting Director of Inukan LCDA, emphasized the broader goal: "Beyond just cleaning up, we aim to educate traders and residents on the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment. This initiative is about fostering a lasting culture of cleanliness and responsibility."

By the time the exercise concluded, the impact was clear. What was once a disorderly and littered market now radiated cleanliness and newfound community pride.

This joint sanitation effort stands as a testament to the power of collaboration. With renewed commitment from both traders and EHOs, one thing is certain—Amuloko Market has embarked on a new chapter, and it will never be the same again.

EXCLUSIVE: Ilaji FM Management Responds to Ajibola Akinyefa’s Resignation Claims
The management of Ilaji Group, Ibadan, has addressed the resignation of its former General Manager, Ajibola Akinyefa, clarifying the circumstances surrounding his exit.

In a statement shared with newsmen, the group emphasized that every organization operates based on set standards, processes, and procedures that guide its administration.

Freshvoice Newsmedia gathered that Akinyefa’s decision to resign was influenced by a change in his designation from General Manager (GM) to Head of Station (HOS). However, the management stated that this change was implemented after it was determined that he had “failed woefully in the discharge of his duties.”

According to the statement, Ilaji FM operates as a unit within the larger Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort conglomerate, where professionalism, discipline, and adherence to corporate ethics are paramount.

The management stressed that Akinyefa resigned voluntarily and was not forced out, as he claimed.

“He simply realized that his flagrant disregard for constituted authority, self-destructive pride, and inflated ego had no place in our well-structured establishment,” the statement read.

The organization maintained that the change in his designation was intended for his professional development, but his inability to meet expectations led to his exit.

“At Ilaji, every position carries responsibilities and obligations, and anything short of that is unacceptable,” the statement added.

The management urged the public to disregard any contrary narratives regarding Akinyefa’s departure.

Oyo Govt To Upgrade 66 PHCs for Better Healthcare Delivery

Oyo Govt To Upgrade 66 PHCs for Better Healthcare Delivery
The Oyo State Government has announced plans to upgrade 66 Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) across the state, with at least two facilities in each of the 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs) set for revitalization.

Addressing a critical stakeholders’ meeting yesterday, held at SDM Tavern Hotels and Suites in Ibadan, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi emphasized that the revitalization of PHCs is a fundamental step in improving healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

She reiterated that the initiative would ensure the provision of essential amenities needed for effective primary healthcare services.

“Primary Healthcare Centers serve as the first point of contact for medical care, making their efficiency crucial to the overall healthcare system. The government cannot do it alone; community involvement is key to sustaining these facilities. We urge stakeholders to take ownership and support this initiative for long-term success,” she stated.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of First Health Dynamic Synergy International Limited, Professor Temitope Alonge, explained that three key criteria were used in selecting the PHCs for upgrade in each LGA.

The first criteria is the patient load. The two PHCs serving the largest population in each LGA were prioritized. The second criteria is category 2 or 3 PHCs, while the third criteria is for facilities with an existing borehole and an alternative power source.

He noted that the project will involve both infrastructural improvements and provision of medical equipment such as installation of a 10KVA solar inverter system and boreholes to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply The medical equipment supply of essential medical devices will include autoclave machines with gas cylinders, among others. The upgrade will also include the implementation of a Drug Revolving Fund to ensure a steady supply of essential medicines. Security enhancement of the facilities will also be included in the upgrade.

Professor Alonge urged Ward Development Committees (WDCs) and PHC Coordinators to take responsibility for the facilities, stressing that they belong to the communities rather than the Primary Healthcare Board. He emphasized that a shift in mindset towards ownership and accountability would be crucial in maintaining improved centers.

He added that the same meeting would be replicated in other zones across the state for the WDC Chairmen and PHC Coordinators.

The Health care center upgrade stakeholders meeting scheduled for Tuesday, 4th March, and to end on Thursday, 6th March 2025.
