How I wish MAKINSSON will be on the ballot paper in 2027 - IJOBA AUTHORITY MOE

One of the reasons why I soliloquize most times in a closet is that, can we still have a Man like Engr. Abiodun Oluseyi (Saheed) Makinde FNSE on the ballot in 2027?

If yes we can, how can we find him? How do we know him? Who will identify him? At what time, period, or stage will he emerge? What is or are the circumstances that will showcase him?

These are various questions and many other numerous ones that come to my mind whenever I see his unrelenting hardworking spirit overing about the Oyo State heaven in other to have her own haven in a Seren atmosphere for his people.

Little wonder, some people could not understand his semantics and methods of discharging leadership capacity rather, they only observe him from afar until they come in close contact with him in the closet. Gov. Makinde is a free, simple empowered mind with undisputed virtues not commonly seen ubiquitously but infused jealously.

His coming to contest the election to become Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2007, and 2011 wasn't a joke or a waste of time or what some people called a wasted effort in futility. He came to the rescue, responding to the yearnings of a common man who can't afford to send their children to school. He came to wrestle with unseen powered cankerworms in human flesh, eating the fabrics of the voiceless, milking and infringing on their civic right to freedom of speech, right to life, and access to Good Governance a  Politics that brings democracy to the grassroots.

He came to raise a hopeless future to have a brand new foundation to build upon, make a son of nobody become a renowned somebody, and allow Young emerging energetic minds to strive by tearing and destroying the shackles used by those at the corridor of powers dictating who becomes something at a predicted someday.

In 2015, after he had lost the elections twice to be Senator in Oyo South to the son of former PDP Chieftain, late Alh. Ariyibi Adedibu, Distinguished Sen. Kamorudeen Adedibu, and Late former Governor of Oyo State, Distinguished Sen. Isiaq Akanji Abiola Ajimobi contested Governorship ticket under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) primary and won to be on the general ballot paper but didn't succeed at that time because they never believed in him but after his money especially those who he taught were loyal to him, those he met along the political journey, the juggernauts, vilified politicians, those who believe in eat finish couldn't see what he saw and be fixed to be committed to his course for the good people of Oyo State and beyond.

After the whirlwind that happened, and for the appointed time that came in 2019, he re-contested as Governorship candidate to be the flag-bearer of our Party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and won surprisingly before some small minds, though they still didn't believe he can win and were trying all their possible humanly powers to upturn the result of the will of the people to their advantage victory. Yet, God did disappoint them woefully and gallantly. This was why you see a lot of enemies behind, beside, before, and after him so as not to succeed in any areas.

Today, he has been vindicated across boards. Those who didn't think he could be successful thus far in politics and governance are now part and parcel of his stardust believing that he is God's Sent Man (GSM) to humanity and not Oyo State alone. He has proven them wrong by many standards, he has made many first achievements so far that many refer to him as Awolowo Incarnate truly.

As a young chap, for two decades studying the leadership moves, and philanthropic waves of Engr. Seyi Makinde does not doubt that he is a man of his tongues hence the reasons why I will continue to believe in him and trust his process as I wish he could make the 2027 ballot for another third term but ...........

NLC Ends Warning Strike, Give Fresh Directive To Members

Tumite News gathered that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has ended its two-day warning strike, directing its members to resume work on Thursday, September 7.

The congress described the participation of its affiliate unions in the just concluded two-day warning strike as a “show of undaunted and resilient commitment to defend Nigerian workers and citizens against man-made economic hardship.”

While praising all the affiliate unions for massively participating in the strike action, NLC charged the unions to stand by for the indefinite industrial action should the Federal Government refuse to take effective action to ameliorate the sufferings of workers occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.

A press statement signed by its president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, reads: “We write to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our dedicated Affiliates, State Councils, and esteemed members for their unwavering support and active participation in the recent two-day nationwide warning strike. This collective effort was undertaken to emphasize our strong conviction that the government should prioritize the welfare of our citizens and adhere to our established statutes.

“We are pleased to report that, thanks to your resolute commitment, we have made significant strides in achieving the goals set during our National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, which prompted the initiation of this warning strike. It is abundantly clear that our united message has resonated loudly with the government, and it would take a truly inattentive ear not to hear it.

“As we mark the end of the two-day nationwide warning strike today, at the stroke of midnight, we earnestly call upon you all to gracefully conclude the strike and return to work tomorrow, in accordance with our initial agreement.

“We would like to take this moment to express our profound appreciation for your unwavering determination and dedication, which played a pivotal role in the resounding success of this action. Your contributions during this warning strike exemplify your unwavering commitment to our shared cause.

“In the event that the government fails to provide the appropriate responses to our demands, we encourage you to maintain your steadfast resolve. The same passion and determination that fueled this warning strike will be crucial if we find ourselves compelled to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike.q

“Congress is not unmindful of the actions of detractors and fifth columnists but in the face of them all, we remain undaunted and more committed to the defence of Nigerian workers and people at any given time. Our nation deserves better.”

100km Of Inner Ibadan Roads Will Be Reconstructed- Governor Makinde

100km Of Inner Ibadan Roads Will Be Reconstructed- Governor Makinde

.......I’ll support LG autonomy if states can determine their numbers — Makinde

Says 100km of inner Ibadan roads to be fixed

.Primary School Teachers to be employed

.Kiosks around schools to go

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said he would only support local government autonomy if states were constitutionally allowed to determine their number of local government areas.

He described the current arrangement, where 774 local government areas are stipulated in the constitution, as fraudulent.

Makinde stated this during a stakeholders’ engagement on the 2024 budget organised by the state Ministry of Budget and Planning, held at the University of Ibadan on Monday.

He stressed that he was not averse to local government autonomy, but not under the current constitutional arrangement.

The event saw Makinde explain what he described as creative ways to manage the state’s funds, especially seeing how the funds that accrue to the local government areas are being managed. Makinde explained: “I have seen people ask where we get money in Oyo State. The local government chairmen are here. I analysed them.

“During the debate held ahead of the last election, I was asked if I were supporting local government autonomy and I said no. “I am in full support of that tier of government, but what we have at this point is fraudulent. Why will you have 774 local government areas stipulated in the constitution of Nigeria? What is the point?

“I said I will support Local Government autonomy if you can allow Oyo State, for instance, to decide if it wants to have 80 local government areas. We’ll just be able to do it. I will support that fully, but not under this current arrangement.

“We are only talking about federal allocation; how about baking a bigger cake so that we can do more even at the level of government for our people? “I said to them. Before now, you got about N7 billion from the federal allocation. If you remove first-line charges of about N5.3 billion, you may have about N1.6 billion or N1.7 billion. We then said, Let’s do a flat deduction of N10 million per council for security, which is N330 million.

“So you have N1.4 billion or N1.5 billion left. If I divide that into 33 Local Government Areas, that is between N20 million and N40 million to go to each council monthly.

“They said I handicapped them because that N30 million or N40 million does not come to them. In our wisdom, we said that when we have serious issues in local councils, how do we tackle them? As we were having that discussion, Akesan Market got burned, and we needed about N800 million to rebuild it.

“If I were to give local government areas N40 million without doing anything per month, they would use half of our tenure to raise the money for rebuilding Akesan Market. But, because we were creative, we said, It is still your money, and you are the one to spend it, but I gave space for contingency projects.”

Addressing the concerns of stakeholders at the meeting on the infrastructure deficit, Makinde said he had directed that 100 kilometres of inner city roads in Ibadan must be reconstructed.

He said many inner roads in the state had gone bad because many of them had outlived their projected span. This is because, as he said, a lot of money and time was needed to fix the Olowo bridge, but he assured us that it would be done.

On the school infrastructure deficit, Makinde said the state would need N12 billion a year.

He said the state was thinking outside the box to raise funds outside of UBEC, SUBEB, and the budget.

He added that the state would soon give a deadline to clear shanties and kiosks around school areas.

Also on education, Makinde promised to begin the process of employing additional teachers in primary schools this quarter.

On Primary Health Care (PHC) centres, Makinde promised that PHCs across the 351 wards of the state would be fixed over the next year. Speaking further, Makinde gave evidence that the roads his administration embarked on were linking all five zones of the State.

He added that his administration was poised to hit 80 per cent in terms of budget performance this year.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Professor Musbau Babatunde, declared that the state had so far achieved 75 per cent budget performance, promising that the Makinde government will continue to embark on people-driven projects.
