Protests: Review Your Strangulating Policies Now - PDP Tells APC Government

Protests: Review Your Strangulating Policies Now - PDP Tells APC Government.
…Laments Life in Nigeria Unbearable
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to immediately review all its anti-people policies that are asphyxiating life in the country.

The Party notes that the nationwide protest by Nigerians would not have come if the APC government had dropped its arrogance, insensitivity and show sincere commitment to the citizens by taking steps to address the current hardship occasioned by its ill-implemented polices.

Nigerians can recall that the PDP on several occasions offered advice on the state of the economy to the APC government, the most recent being the PDP's statement on June 6, 2024 wherein it urged that “President Tinubu should listen to the heartbeat of Nigerians. There is hunger and destitution in the land. The reaction of a hungry people is better imagined! Mr. President, please act now”.

Sadly, these counsels did not receive the expected consideration resulting in the current situation.

It is alarming that instead of engaging Nigerians and addressing their concerns, the APC allegedly recruited hoodlums to instigate violence so as to justify a clampdown and killing of innocent Nigerians.

The APC is completely insensitive to the fact that more than 120 million Nigerians have become destitute and can no longer afford their daily meals and other basic necessities of life as poverty rate soars to over 40% because of the life-discounting policies of the APC administration.

As stated by the PDP on several occasions, any people-oriented government ought to have been wary of the suffocating effect of the hasty and ill-implemented twin policies of abrupt increase in the price of petroleum products and arbitrary floating of the Naira without due cushioning measures to ensure the wellbeing of the people.

The PDP restates that these thoughtless policies of the APC administration are responsible for the crippling of the productive sector with the crashing of the Naira to over N1,500 to a Dollar, fuel soaring to over N1,000 per liter, which in turn triggered high costs of goods and services with over 34% inflation rate, over 40% unemployment rate with the closure of millions of businesses and mass exodus of major multi-national companies from our country.

The APC has plunged Nigeria into a humanitarian crisis where millions of citizens are literarily starving and dying of hunger. Sadly, today a bag of rice sells for over N85,000; a bag of beans goes for N150,000; a measure of garri now sells for N1,500 while a measure of cooking oil which sold for N1,200 now sells for N12,000 with prices of all food items increasing daily.

More provocative is that while Nigerians are crying for food, the APC officials in government are busy looting the national treasury to fund their luxury appetite, including acquisition of luxury jets, expensive holidays abroad, renovation of official residential mansions and other profligacies, without regard to the feeling and the pains of majority of Nigerians.

Also disturbing is the scandalous revelation that the APC administration is secretly paying a whopping N5.4 trillion as fuel subsidy for 2024 even after the President announced an end to fuel subsidy.

What Nigerians expect at this time is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to personally address the nation, announce major policy reviews and order investigation into the alleged looting of subsidy and palliative funds.

Mr. President should also review all luxury items and purchases in the APC government and channel the resources for immediate intervention in the provision of food and other essential commodities to Nigerians.

The PDP calls on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding in the pursuit of good governance in our country.

Exciting Moments as The Publisher Naija24hrs News, Ola Peter Ties Knot With Spouse

Exciting Moments as The Publisher Naija24hrs News, Ola Peter Ties Knot With Spouse
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Says: “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their hard work. If either should fall, one can pick up the other. But how miserable are those who fall and don’t have a companion to help them up! Also, if two lie down together, they can stay warm. But how can anyone stay warm alone? Also, one can be overpowered, but two together can put up resistance. A three-ply cord doesn’t easily snap.”

Ibadan South-West local government has been in agog as the prominent member of People's Democratic party and the Publisher Naija24hrs News Comrade Olajide Olaoluwa Peter took a oath registry with his spouse Morogbon Lovely Opeloye.

The event which was slated to hold today 1st of August at Ibadan South-West local government of Oyo State, had in attendance the Chief of Staff to Ibadan South-West local government Chairman, Alhaji Hassan, Alhaji Abiodun Barushi and Personal Assistant to Ibadan South-West LG Chairman Dolapo Oladejo among well meaning politicians, party stakeholders and office holders across the ministries and board of Oyo State.

Our prayers: We pray that heavenly Father grant husband, Peter and wife, Opeloye true and understanding love for each other.
Grant them both with faith and trust and give them the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony. May they always bear with one another's weaknesses and grow from each others strengths.

Abuja:Court Restricts Protesters to Abuja Stadium

Abuja:Court Restricts Protesters to Abuja Stadium

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has restricted participants in the August 1, planned protest to the MKO Abiola stadium, also known as National Stadium.

The presiding judge, Justice Sylvanus Oriji issued the order in Abuja while delivering ruling in an ex-parte application brought before the court by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

In the exparte application argued by Ogwu James Onoja, SAN, the FCT Minister had applied for an order of interim injunction restraining the five leaders of the protesting groups from gathering or parading themselves along any roadway, streets, offices and public premises within the FCT between August 1 to August 10, or any other day thereafter, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

The Minister who said that the federal government was not aversed to the protest claimed that intelligence and security reports reaching him indicated that some elements within the leadership of the protesters intend to capitalize on the planned protest to cause havoc and irreparable damages to public facilities and blocking of roadways to prevent movement of persons and vehicles and disturb public peace.

In the ruling, Justice Oriji, who recognized the rights of the protesters to embark on peaceful protest, however restricted them to the Stadium in view of the genuine fears expressed by the minister.

"In the light of the above, the court considers it appropriate and expedient to grant an order under the general prayer to ensure that the rights of the protesters are guaranteed and that the protest does not negatively or adversely affect the rights of other citizens to move about and to ensure that that properties and other public facilities are not destroyed.

He therefore ordered the 1st to 5th respondents to "use the Moshood Abiola Stadium" only for the protest.

JDS Support Group Respond to Recent Concerns Raised by Business Associates and Family - Clarifies Call for Jubril D. Sanusi's Guber Bid

JDS Support Group Respond to Recent Concerns Raised by Business Associates and Family - Clarifies Call for Jubril D. Sanusi's Guber Bid
In light of recent discussions and concerns raised by some of Chief (Engr) Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s business associates, family, and friends regarding his potential entry into politics, the JDS Support Group wishes to clarify our stance and the reasons behind our call for his gubernatorial aspiration.

As the convener of the JDS Support Group, I, Rahmon Akintunde Alawode, acknowledge that everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, our appeal for Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi to consider running for the governorship of Oyo State in 2027 is rooted in our belief in his proven track record and dedication to community development. It is worth noting that Chief Sanusi’s extensive contributions to the community, including his support for both the All Progressives Congress (APC) during Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential campaign and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the re-election of Engr Seyi Makinde as Governor in 2023, reflect his commitment to the well-being of the people.

The JDS Support Group comprises various sectors, including Oyo State Market Traders, Youths, Students, and other community groups who recognize the positive impact of Chief Sanusi's initiatives. His philanthropy and leadership qualities make him a fitting candidate for public office, particularly in a gubernatorial role, where he can implement policies that foster growth and development at a broader scale.

We understand the concerns about the challenges and potential pitfalls of politics. However, we believe that Chief Sanusi's entry into the political arena could bring about much-needed change and progress for Oyo State, leveraging his experience and dedication to public service. The support from diverse groups is not merely about asking him to run but is also a call to continue his good work and expand his influence for the betterment of the state.

In conclusion, we urge Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi to consider this call seriously. We believe his leadership could bring significant benefits to Oyo State, building on his successes in business and community service. We also assure all stakeholders that the JDS Support Group will continue to advocate for integrity, transparency, and accountability in all political engagements.

Thank you.

FG Begins Sale Of 50kg Rice For N40,000
The Federal Government on Monday said it had created centres across the country where Nigerians can purchase a 50kg bag of rice for N40,000.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this on Monday while briefing correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

Idris said this was one of several initiatives by the Tinubu administration to ease living conditions for citizens.

Therefore, he argued that the nationwide protests scheduled to begin on August 1 were unnecessary since “President Tinubu is already protesting on behalf of the people.”

The minister also argued that all the demands of the protest organisers were being met.

“The position of the FEC is that most of the demands that the protesters are making are actually being addressed by the Federal Government and, therefore, it is the view of the government that there is really no need for the protests again.

“Most of the things that the protesters are putting forward are already being addressed by the government. And like we have said repeatedly, this is a listening government.
