Olympic silver medalist Blessing Oborodudu led by exemple as captain of Nigerian Wrestlers to defeat Blandine Nyeh Ngiri of Cameroon 14-4

Multiple world medalist Odunayo Adekuoroye followed Blessing's footsteps by beating Zineb Hassoune of Morocco with pinfal. 

Similarly, Commonwealth champion and multiple African champion Mercy Genesis did not dissapoint as she dispatched her Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Nada of Egypt 7-0.

African Games debutant Ogunsanya Christiana produced à dominant display in the 53kg to outclsss her opponent Nogona Bakayoko of Cote D'Ivoire 11-0.

Hannah Reuben added more celebration to the already agog atmosphere after she defeated Amy Youin of Ivory Coast. 

Réaction to the victory, the President Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Dr Daniel Igali stated that the victory is as a result of hard work and dedication. 

An elated Igali gave kudos to the female wrestlers for complimenting their efforts in training with the incredible show at the female event. 

"I thank the Lord for the victory today because we've been training but in all of this I'm so excited for these girls the deserve it." Igali said.

"Also I like to thank the Governor of Bayelsa State Douye Diri for always supporting these athletes, his support enabled us to shine like we did today."

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan's fine run of form continued on Sunday as the Oluyole Warriors secured a resounding 3-0 win over visiting Akwa United of Uyo.

The coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored lads did not hide their intension to grab a comprehensive win in the Matchday 24 fixture, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, as they swooped on the visitors from the blast of the referee's whistle.

It was a matter of time before the opener will come, with left back, Ehibe Victor firring the team to a 15th minute lead after being set up by Christian Pyagbara 

Three minutes later, the goal provider, Pyagbara turned to a scorer himself as he nodded in Gideon Monday's corner kick to double the Oluyole Warriors lead.

It would have been more before the end of the first half but none of further chances created could be converted, thus ending the half 2-0.

At the start of the second half, the coach Umar Abdullahi tutored Akwa United took the game to the hosts, but had al their efforts to reduce the tally thwarted by the solid defenceline of 3SC which gave goalkeeper Okemute Odah enough coverage.

In search of more goals, coach Ogunbote made some changes, introducing the duo of Daddy Abdulrahman and Lawal Abdullahi at the start of the second half and later Adams Agba'a Mustapha and Oke Kayode, while Ayodeji Bamidele came in in the last five of the 90 minutes.

Substitute, Abdullahi Lawal put an icing on the cake for the Oluyole Warriors in the 86th with a blistering free kick, which goalkeeper Jean Efala had no answer to, after Oke Kayode was fouled.

Shooting Stars have thus made it four consecutive games without a loss and have increased their points haul to 34 from 24 matches to move up on the ladder.

Next on the card for the team is a midweek clash against Doma United, with the Matchday 25 tie holding at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.

Prince Oloyede-Asanike Abioye Jr emphasized the importance of supporting the less privileged during these challenging times and at the beginning of the sacred month of Ramadan. He expressed his commitment to promoting unity and solidarity among families in society through such initiatives.

The distributed items included staples such as rice, beans, yam, millet, sugar, and other essential food items, all aimed at alleviating the burden faced by the less privileged.

Mrs. Akinola Oluwakemi, one of the beneficiaries, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prince Oloyede-Asanike Abioye Jr for his timely intervention. She emphasized the significance of support during Ramadan and prayed for blessings upon those who extend kindness to the vulnerable.

Olusegun Abayomi Oyedeji extends his commendation for Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State who was awarded the prestigious title of "Governor of the Year 2023." 

The recognition comes from various quarters, including importantly the Disability Stalwart and Sports Administrator of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.

Mr. Oyedeji, a prominent advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and a key figure within the Oyo State PDP, lauded Governor Makinde for his commitment to inclusive governance. In a statement issued yesterday, Ambassador Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi praised the Governor's unwavering dedication to the well-being and empowerment of citizens with disabilities.

"Governor Makinde's tireless efforts to create an inclusive society and uplift the marginalized, particularly people with disabilities, have not gone unnoticed. In addition, the Makinde-led administration has injected funds into the Oyo State economy by regularly and consistently paying the salaries of the state workers and pensioners, including hundreds of people with disabilities who were employed and inducted into the State Teaching Service Commission upon the Governor’s assumption of office.

Ambassador Olusegun Abayomi Oyedeji, the Disability Stalwart further highlighted Governor Makinde's initiatives aimed at improving accessibility, healthcare, and educational opportunities for people with disabilities across the state. Hon Aikomo Oluwafemi Emmanuel, FCA Hails from Fiditi in Afijio local government area, Oyo State. Hon. Olufemi Aikomo is a humble man, cultured and also a grassroot politician.

Hon. Olufemi Aikomo is a chartered accountant, He is the chairmanship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the Afijio Local Government in the 2024 local government elections.

Today, Mr Governor walked in to join the protesters, sympathize and empathize with them on the state of economic impact in our land causing Hunger, Anger as well generating into hardship for all. Assured that, all restitution, list of request on how our state can be economical independent, stimulating the resources to expand the economy and to bring back the normalcy to our land, Oyo State Nigeria should be brought to his table for way forward deliberation.

Commends Chief Ogunlade for his fatherly roles

Ahead of the April 2024 Local government election in Oyo state, Hon. Adewusi Adegbola has donated campaign materials to Afijio PDP Chairmanship candidate Hon. Aikomo Emmanuel Olufemi, FCA and his Vice Hon. Adegoke Tajudeen Aderemi. 

Two thousand pieces of posters were presented by Hon. Adewusi to the PDP candidates on Saturday 10th February, 2024. 

While presenting the posters, Hon. Adewusi seized the opportunity to appeal to all residents in Afijio local government area to vote for all PDP candidates.

He equally appreciated the party leaders in the local government area particularly Chief Sunday Ogunlade for his exceptional leadership and fatherly roles in providing adequate supports for the party candidates ahead of the election. 

The gesture was lauded by the Oyo State PDP State Deputy Chairman Hon. James Olukunle, and he described Adewusi Adegbola as a committed party man who is so much concerned about the success of the PDP candidates. 

He further called on other party members to emulate the gesture of Hon. Adegbola Adewusi in order to ensure total victory for the party candidates during the election.

In their appreciation, The chairmanship candidate and his Vice expressed their sincere gratitude to Hon. Adewusi for his thoughtfulness and support for the coming election.

The candidates recognized the significance of conducting a fair and democratic election that truly represents the will of the people, stressing that the strength of unity and collaboration within the political landscape is an attestation of PDP victory in the forthcoming election. 

They also implored the people of Afijio LGA to look forward to a competitive yet respectful campaign driven by the ideals of democracy and the common goals of serving our communities.

     In preparation for the coming local government election in Ibadan North East LG, especially in ward 06, the councilorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Hon. Igbalajobi Adekola Campaign team visited Oje, Alafara and Temidire  Communities for endorsement from the Associations.

   Hon. Igbalajobi while speaking with the elders and Association said he has been doing it before with his own money and he will continue to do it again. He stated that there's not a day that his boss Hon. Olugbenga Ayinde Adewusi Arole will not call him and remind him to be good to the people of his Communities.

    He continues that he is  not aspirin for the post of a Councilor because of the money but to bring the dividends of democracy to every nooks and corners of ward 06.

    He mentioned some of the projects he has facilitated to ward 06 as a Supervisory Councilor such as 

(1)Health Center(Govt. Own)

(2) 5 Deep well NGO

(3)A Public Toilet NGO

(4) Different Empowerment programs

and

(5) Free Medical Check up and Tests.
