PDP Gains More Ground As NAPPMED, Sport Stakeholders In Oluyole Endorse Akeem Olatunji's LG Chairmanship Bid

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oluyole may have solidified a vantage position as Oyo state prepares ahead of the coming 2024 local government with the gale of endorsements and open declaration of support from residents of the Council.

This was as different stakeholders in Oluyole Local Government including Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED), Nigerian Coaches Association, Oluyole chapter, all declared support for Olatunji chairmanship candidature.

The declaration of support and public endorsement of Olatunji by the various stakeholders followed the soaring acceptance and political reputation in Oluyole Local Government, westernmirror.com.ng has gathered.

NAPPMED, Idi-ayunre chapter is the umbrella body of all registered parent medicine dealers comprising five Wards: Wards 2, 5, 8, 9 and 10. This online newspaper reports.

Chief (Mrs) Fatimah Odunpade, who led the leadership of NAPPMED at the endorsement ceremony yesterday described Olatunji as 'friend of the masses and a large hearted individual with immeasurable passion for his people in Oluyole Local Government saying the public endorsement was to openly identify with Olatunji's political ambition and to assure him of the Association's unwavering support.

In a similar development, the Eagles and Peace Corps of Nigeria also decorated the former Publicity Secretary of PDP in Oyo state with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his contributions to the sustenance of peace in Oluyole local government.

Olatunji however, dedicated his award to Governor Seyi Makinde who he described as the number one advocate of peace and peaceful coexistence in Oyo state and Nigeria.

Equally, the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Oluyole LG Chapter, led by Coach Wasiu Busari, described Olatunji as a thorough grassroots politician who understands the multidimensional need of the people at the local level and has willingly committed himself to it out of genuine passion for his people.

Busari urged Olatunji to remain steadfast in his compassionate character and humility noting that his general acceptability and soaring popularity across different political parties were a testament to what he called epitomizing the true Yoruba 'Omoluabi'ethos.

In his reaction, Olatunji said, "I was decorated yesterday with the Award of Excellence by Eagles and Peace Corps of Nigeria for my contributions to the sustenance of peace in Oluyole LG, and my sincere appreciation goes to the organizers for finding me worthy of this noble recognition.

"This is only a clear testament that our little efforts to make our community better and improve on the well-being of people at the grassroots and it can only inspire me to want to do more for our people.

"My promise as a political disciple of the people's Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde , is to support projects that will enhance security and development of my people in Oluyole local government and to domesticate all laudable policies and programs of the Governor at the grassroots when elected as the Executive Chairman come next year."

Lobi Stars 2-1 Shooting Stars: Late Penalty Earns Lobi All Points

Lobi Stars 2-1 Shooting Stars: Late Penalty Earns Lobi All Points
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan were undone by a late penalty kick,  as Lobi Stars laboured to a 2-1 over the Oluyole Warriors in a Matchday 10 fixture.

The top of the table clash, played at the Lafia City Stadium, Lafia, saw the homers take an early lead through Adebayo Waheed's second minutes goal.

The Oluyole Warriors soon shrugged off the shocking early goal as they settled down to get back into the game.

The coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored lads were unlucky not to have leveled up before the half time as Christian Pyagbara saw his effort cleared on the line by a Lobi Stars' defender, thus helping the Makurdi based side in keeping their slim lead into the break.

The second half was barely four minutes old when the Oluyole Warriors deservedly levelled up, courtesy of a fantastic strike by substitute Gideon Monday, with left back Olawale Mutiu providing the assist, his third of the campaign.

The goal brought out the best in both sides as they strived to take the lead.

Shooting Stars' defense line had to be at its best to curtail the homers' who raided the Warriors' goal area but found it hard to put the ball beyond goalkeeper Anozie Chinedu, who was impressive in between the sticks.

Mother luck smiled on the hosts few minutes to the end when they were awarded a penalty kick after 3SC goal scorer, Gideon Monday handled the ball inside the dangerous area.

Kalu Orji made no mistake from the spot to score what would become the winning goal of the pulsating encounter, as the  Ibadan soccer lords rallied for late a leveller, but were unlucky not to grab it deep into the added time as Ayobami Junior and Alex Aghahowa's efforts   narrowly missed the target.

Despite the loss, Shooting Stars remain third on the log with 17 points and will aim at returning to winning ways next Sunday when they play host to Heartland FC of Owerri in a matchday eleven fixture.

MAKINDE'S HUMILITY AND GENTILITY IS SECOND TO NONE
BY IJOBA AUTHORITY MOE

"Every day, leadership challenges are going to come for you. From all sides, around every corner, even from within."

Leadership—true leadership is based on honesty, authenticity and meaningful relationships—takes guts. The kind of leadership that inspires others, serves others, and points them towards a greater purpose and vision … it’s hard work.

There are many bumps on the path of leadership. Sometimes they’re roadblocks. Sometimes the bridge is out entirely. But every challenge is an opportunity. It’s a chance to learn about yourself, improve your skills and strengthen the emotional intelligence that’s so critical to effective leadership.

Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, since his administration began, has been facing many challenges from all walls both within and outside, National, State, Local yet he was not moved.

However, various varieties have helped GSM in managing some unexpected, unplanned crises to distract his administration from doing the right thing, getting it right as well doing it well as against what it used to be in the Political atmosphere.

As a Transformational Leader with full capacity, ability different from "ABINIBI" he has been able to scale through as an experienced professional and Distinguished Educationist, practicing Engineer, and scientist via his leadership acquisition in position, relationship, result-oriented, developmental, and unshakable integrity of heart.

As a young Entrepreneur, a successful business tycoon at the youthful age of 29, made himself by striving to take the lead anywhere. Knowingly, success is never an act but an attitude, for Engr Oluseyi Abiodun MAKINDE, his successes were never overnight but over time.

Guess what? The first and probably most persistent source of leadership challenges, It’s you. The Leader yourself.

Yes, there are plenty of external forces that can throw obstacles on your path. But most often, it’s our thoughts, feelings, and ways of reacting to situations that can create some of the biggest hurdles in Leadership.

My dearest Governor, His Excellency Engr Sir Dsc GSSRS KJW Abiodun Oluseyi Saheed Sa'ad MAKINDE FNSE, your humility is second to none likewise your gentility.
