He further gave an Executive order to the Chairman of Akinyele LG to immediately upgrade the road to this Amo Farms ( The Home Of Animal Protein) and ensure the complete reconstruction of that road be included in the 2024 budget yet submitted and  presented for approval.

“Right now, we are number one in cassava production in Nigeria. We want to be number one in soya bean production in Nigeria. Oyo State is number one in day-old chick production. So, we want to take that to livestock but we cannot do it by leaving investors to carry all the investment alone. Now, we are saying we want to support.” he concluded.

Promise Fulfilled: 1533 LAUTECH Students Resume in Iseyin

Promise Fulfilled: 1533 LAUTECH Students Resume in Iseyin

One Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty-Three (1533) 200 Level students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso will resume at the Iseyin Campus, by the end of October, 2023.

This is in fulfilment of the promise made by Governor Seyi Makinde during the commissioning of the Iseyin campus, last month.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, on Tuesday, the college of Agricultural Science and Renewable Natural Resources, will begin the second semester in Iseyin on October 23, 2023.

The Commissioner recalled that his counterpart in the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Saliu Adelabu has held series of meetings with the Pro- Chancellor, Prof. Deji Omole and the Ag. Vice-chancellor to ensure the realisation of the students' resumption.

According to him, the resumption is significant because since April, 2023 when Oyo State Government announced the movement of the Agriculture Faculty to Iseyin, commencement of lecture for the 200 level students will now formally begin.

Last week Thursday, the Ag. Vice-chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde Kalilu led the institution's management team, to a meeting with stakeholders, where community leaders pledged their absolute support for the resumption and promised, to do all in their power to ensure comfortable stay of the coming students.

Prince Oyelade said agreement was reached on affordable accommodation, transportation and security measures in anticipation of their resumption.

Some of the lecturers, who may not secure immediate accomodation within Iseyin township, have made arrangements, to come from their Ogbomoso base on daily basis.

This is made feasible, because the newly constructed 76km Ogbomoso-Iseyin road, is 55 minutes drive.

The Commissioner recalled that the first semester officially ended on October 3, 2023

FG to start home delivery of passports next year

The Federal Government has announced that Nigerians will have the option of getting their passports delivered to them at home, offices, and other places of choice from the beginning of next year.

Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the 2023 University of Lagos International Week.

Ojo said;

“We have commenced the automation of our end-to-end passport application process, and we have given a timeline from which Nigerians will begin to experience the ‘sweet experience.

“By implication, Nigerians will not need to wait longer than two weeks before they get their passport.

“By January next year, Nigerians will be able to complete this application process online, and by February next year, with collaboration and partnership with other relevant stakeholders, Nigerians will have their passports delivered to their homes, offices, and other locations of their choice.

“This, of course, would be extended to our visa application process. We are deploying technology throughout the entire process to make it as seamless as possible. To achieve this, we have set everything into motion to open more visa application centres across the world.

“In this regard, we are also working on strengthening our visa-on-arrival policy. We are working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enforce the principle of the doctrine of reciprocity, and a committee has been set up in the ministry to achieve this.”

Ojo also said that the integrity of travel documents would be restored via data harmonisation. He said;

“Identity is who we are, what we are, and what we live for. But today, what we have is a duplication of our registration.

“Arguably, Nigeria is the only country I know that has a BVN for the bank, the international passport, the NIN, SIM card registration for telecos, and so on all of which request your data. The integrity of our travel documents must be restored through the harmonisation of our data.”

The Road to Good Governance is the Path Less Travelled From: His Excellency Engr Sir Dsc GSSRS KJW Abiodun Seyi Makinde FNSE
October is Nigeria’s independence month, presenting another opportunity to reflect on nation-building and good governance. So, it was fitting for the Oyo State Government to hold an executive retreat where we talked about how to move Oyo State forward.

It was an opportunity to share my vision for Oyo State and receive feedback from the team on how much of this vision they understand and can articulate. Our interactions again showed how we cannot follow the “popular” political path if we want to achieve good governance. If we agree that it is madness to do things the same way over and over and hope to achieve different results, then we cannot do things the same way we have always done them. We must choose to be different.

I have often been accused of running a populist government. My response is that if by populist, they mean commonsensical, driven by data, science and logic, then they may be right. However, a populist politician would pander to the populace and take palliative measures to look good. This is a course I have never taken. I chose the path less travelled.

When we came into office in 2019, we could have put all our resources into rehabilitating roads in Ibadan. That would have been a populist action. Ibadan has 11 local government areas and the majority of the voting population in the State. But, in choosing the path less travelled, we focused on the bigger picture. We reconstructed the 65 km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road, knowing that linking Ibadan to Oke-Ogun would attract big businesses.

We pushed the envelope further by prioritising opening all other zones to investment instead of limiting investments to Ibadan alone.

Governor Seyi Makinde at the Oyo State Government Executive Leadership Retreat 2023
And so, my message to the leaders at the retreat was that they should see the bigger picture, key into it and then sell that vision to their teams. Not everyone will be happy with our methods, but most are happy about the outcomes. This is why we won our re-election by a landslide 63% of total votes cast. We cannot afford to let our people down.

I am also pleased to see that the data supports the fact that our policies and actions are beneficial to Oyo State in the long term. A recent socio-economic scorecard of States in Nigeria conducted by Analysts Data Services and Resources placed Oyo State in third place among the 36 States and FCT. Of course, we have also noted the areas where we scored below average and will continue to work towards improving.

On that note, let me mention that having set everything in motion to interconnect all zones, including embarking on the construction of the Ibadan Circular Road, we can now give more attention to Ibadan. We will be reconstructing some inner roads in Ibadan instead of just taking palliative measures. We have already advertised for bids from contractors for these projects. This costs us more in the short term but will lead to long-term cost savings and benefits.

I haven’t shared my reading in a while. This does not mean I have not been reading. Let’s talk about my reading in my next newsletter.

PENGASSAN Confirms Return Of Fuel Subsidy Under Tinubu

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has confirmed the return of fuel subsidy under President Bola Tinubu.

President Bola Tinubu had announced the removal of fuel subsidy on his first day in office, leading to increase in fuel price from N197 to between N480 and N570, the pump price was subsequently reviewed upward to N620.

However, there were reports that the price would go up as a result of fluctuation in the global oil market.

There were reports that the federal government intervened to prevent further rise in pump price, but the government denied this.

However, Daily Trust subsequently found documents which showed that despite the numerous assurances by Tinubu that subsidy was gone, the federal government paid N169.4 billion as subsidy in August to keep the pump price at N620 per litre.

A document by the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), sighted by our reporter, showed that in August 2023, the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) paid $275m as dividends to Nigeria via NNPC Limited. NNPC Limited used $220m (N169.4 billion at N770/$) out of the $275m to pay for the PMS subsidy. Then NNPC held back $55m, illegally.

The government neither confirmed nor denied the story.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Festus Osifo, National President of PENGASSAN, said due to the cost of crude oil in the international market and the exchange rate, the government still pays subsidies on petrol.

“They [government] are paying subsidy today. In reality today, there is subsidy because as of when the earlier price was determined, the price of crude in the international market was somewhere around $80 for a barrel. But today, it has moved to about $93/94 per barrel for Brent crude. So, because it has moved, then the price [of petroleum] also needed to move,” he said.

He said before the government can stop subsidising petroleum, two things must happen.

“The only reason the price will not move is when you are able to manage your exchange rate effectively and you are able to pump in supply and bring down the exchange rate.

“So, if the exchange rate comes down today, we will not be paying subsidy. But with the exchange rate value and the price of crude oil in the international market, we have introduced subsidy,” the PENGASSAN boss said.

DIKKO, THE OMITUNTUN 2.0 & SAfER CATALYTIC INGREDIENT

DIKKO, THE OMITUNTUN 2.0 & SAfER CATALYTIC INGREDIENT
By Alabi Caleb Olatunji, Editor of "Omi Titun Express Newsmagazine.

There is no doubting the unimpeachable fact that Governor Seyi Makinde's resolve to deliver quality governance has continued to assume higher pedestal each passing moment.

GSM has confounded his critics very early in the 2nd term running that the much lauded impressive performance of first term was just a decoy to win another term. No, it is now crystal clear that the mechanism for GSM to perform is in-built and inherent virtues, uncommon in today's political space, indeed Makinde is a special breed of global leaders in advanced nation, whose priorities are simply writing his name in the annals of history as a man who has impacted the world.

A clearly clairvoyant leader, adroit at his operations has intuitively narrowed the choice to a man, whose debut in the Oyo state political space came with lots conjecture but whose performance within the shortest time of appointment had lent credence to competences, capability and strong capacity to deliver the vision as a Governor.

Hon. Dr Ibraheem , though popularity known as DIKKO has availed the advantage of appointment as the indefatigable Chairman and Sole Administrator of (PTS) Pacesetter Transport Services Company to inject digital transformation in tune with global standard.

Vividly, Oyo State populace has felt the positive economic impact of "Omituntun Mass Transit Buses" with ease of transportation from one points to another as another promised kept from Governor Makinde to his people.

In a most organized manner, the good people of Oyo state have accessed their mass transit buses with all anciliary advantages.
Hon. DIKKO in awesome discharge of his official duties, has demonstrated the justification for the competence reposed in him by Gov.Makinde, he has put the entire Oyo youths in better perspective as being capable to handle sensitive state obligations.

It is definitely an attestation Makinde's commitment of dividends of democracy loaded in Omituntun 2.0 Agenda on sustainable development goal accessible to Oyo populace in other spheres as well.

Hon. Oladeji Salami has worked out the mindset of his boss, whose zeal to put smiles on their faces and assuage the painful effect of fuel subsidy removal has continued to make the impact of brilliantly designed SAfER (Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery) felt in the transport palliative system as other measures have taken flight in line with the Governors directive.

I must say, Gov. MAKINDE had made Oyo State, Nigerians as a whole proud based on the innovative technology and digital improvement made so far at Pacesetter Transport Services Company of Oyo State under the leadership of the first Sole Administrator as well the Chairman, Hon Dr Ibraheem Oladeji Salami a.k.a DIKKO.

However, I wish Hon. Dikko a successful journey at the company as well to our pragmatic Gov. Engr Dsc GSSRS KJW Abiodun Oluseyi MAKINDE FNSE a victorious tenure.

Before the agreement was reached, the organised labour had threatened to pull out of the meeting following the government insistence that the N35, 000 Provisional salary increment would only last for six months.
