Beyond rhetorics and expectations, many people taught Governor Makinde will lose the 2019 elections but quite unfortunate for them, the forgotten stone became the cornerstone hence the victory on March 9, 2019

Surprisingly, for everyone to know that God's time is the ultimate and he alone can install a King and uninstall as well being the supreme kingmaker, there were showers of Heavy Downpour as a sign that truly it is Fresh Waters ( OMITUNTUN ) and to proof the political juggernauts, vilified politicians wrong that this is God at work for  Engr. Seyi Makinde (ESM) then.

Many that believes in his personality who is a successful business tycoon in the private sector were not part of the doubting Thomases like others did. The few that were convinced about his leadership capacity, fell in love to work with him upon his swearing-in on May 29, 2019.

As they say, "Without a fall one does not know how to pack his/her loads". It became pertinent for people like me whose belief and trust in ESM can't be poisoned by any unscrupulous elements hence my absolute dedication, loyalty, support, and commitment towards his success in the course of the four years mandate.

However, he set the pace 2019-2023 administration on four pillars namely Health, Security, Education, and Expansion of Economy through Agribusiness to be based on three models as indicators and parameters: Logic, Data, and Science to measure the effects and effectiveness on those pillars listed.

These and other wisdom apparatus gave him a success storyline on OMITUNTUN 1.0 tagged Accelerated Development Goal 2019-2023. I must let you know this, he laid some futuristic painful foundation that could in the long term be gainful to all.

Before I submit, we are now in OMITUNTUN 2.0 tagged Sustainable Development Goal for Growth, and taking our people from Poverty to Prosperity. In the early days of this month, August 2023, a one-week strike came up by the NLC, TUC, and other labour force, state civil servants in Oyo State on the fuel Subsidy palava, hike in the price of the commodity, two months owed salary deductions telling on their expenses.

On this bases, Mr. Governor came out on Sunday night at about 9 pm, 06/08/2023 to make a state-wide broadcast in response to workers' agitation so as to address and arrest the situation promptly. He gave some clear declarations on provisions for Youths for Agropreneurs (YEAP 500M), SMEs (500M), Poorest of the poor individual (200,000) for food relief packages as palliatives, Pensioners to get free Health Insurance through OYHISA (100,000) and Farmers inputs support to 10,000 individual, while on transportation as a major area of moving from one location to another through the office of the PTS Chairman and Sole Administrator, Hon. Dr. Ibraheem Oladeji Salami to provide subsidized rates for Aged, Students and Expansion of intracity omituntun mass transit to other five geopolitical zones while interstate is in the pipeline.

Speaking further, he declared that all mentioned pillars shall be treated under the SAfER Programme ( Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery) hence the 15-man committee set up to make it a reality.

He also assured them of complete payment of their two months' salary deductions owed to be paid alongside their salary on the same GSM date as well added more Omituntun Mass Transit to the existing to cover others.

Today, show me a Governor in Nigeria that has taken such bold, pragmatic, and effulgent steps like the Man Called MAKINSSON The Ilufemiloye1 Aare Atunluse Aare Orile Igbon Kingdom The Idan Gangan the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr Dsc GSSRS KJW Abiodun Oluseyi (Saheed) Makinde FNSE  has done unlike others giving out 5,000 and 10,000 as well reducing the number of days to come for work hence affecting their economic growth and recovery.

Marketers Reveal Petrol Price Will Reduce by N70/Litre as Tinubu Fixes Date For PH Refinery Production

Petroleum marketers have revealed that petrol prices would reduce if Nigeria begins to refine the product locally

Mike Osatuyi, IPMAN National Controller of Operations, said local refining would reduce the burden of imports on Nigeria

The development comes amid reports that petrol produced in Nigeria’s refineries will fall off-spec in two years

Oil marketers say that immediately after local refining of petroleum products is fully operational, the cost of petrol will go down by at least N70 per litre.

Mike Osatuyi, the National Controller of Operations for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said this when recently discussing the benefits of the Nigerian government’s investment in functional refineries.

Contracts for refinery production awarded

Osatuyi told journalists that despite contracts for refurbishing the refineries being awarded, it be a good development for the repairs to be finalized soon to reduce the stress and substantial burden of imports on the country.

Osatuyi said:

“The contract was already awarded before the new government came into office. IPMAN doesn’t know the context of the agreement, but if the refineries are working, it will cut freight and ship-to-ship transfer costs.

“Not less than N60/N70 per litre will be off if the refineries start working.”

Reports say Osatuyi revealed the benefits to include operational refineries as a reduction in insurance costs, product delivery time, and increase in employment.

“Cost of insurance would reduce, and then if we keep importing, it takes about 30 days for ships to arrive in Nigeria, and we would have to pay for hiring the vessel.

“But if we refine in the country, products would arrive within one day. There will also be more jobs for the masses. It’s a lot of benefits,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) is spending almost $3 billion to refurbish Nigeria’s three refineries. Still, reports say the petrol produced from the refineries will fall below standard in Africa by 2025.

Experts say the development could threaten the health of Nigerians and their vehicles as the world pivots to fuels with lower sulphur.

They say the three refineries use sulphur for petrol production.

The quality of refined petrol improved over the years from 300 per million (PPM) of sulphur to 150 ppm, the standard rule drafted by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) in July 2017.

Tumite News reported that President Bola Tinubu has promised that the Port Harcourt refinery will begin operations by December 2023.

BusinessDay reports that NNPC cannot meet the standard because, as of 2019, the refineries produced PMS with sulphur content ranging from 100 ppm to 300 ppm and diesel with sulphur content ranging from 800 ppm to 1,500 ppm.

Tumite News reported that President Bola Tinubu has promised that the Port Harcourt refinery will begin operations by December 2023.

Tinubu disclosed this through a statement issued by Dele Alake, the special adviser to the president on special duties, communications, and strategy, on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

The statement noted that the president gave the assurance when he spoke at a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) led by Joe Ajaero, its president, and that of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Usifo.

Tinubu promised that production would begin after the ongoing rehabilitation contract between Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and Maire Tecnimont SpA was completed.

Olatunbosun Sets To Structure Cultural Festivals, Parleys Egungun Worshipers

The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, has hit the ground running in his bid to set the tone for harnessing tourism and culture in Oyo State under Omituntun 2.0.

Dr Olatubosun met Egungun Worshipers (Alagbaas) in the State with a view to setting aside a day for a unified annual Egungun Carnival as tourism becomes a focal point of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omituntun 2.0 Agenda.  According to Dr Olatubosun, the grand Egungun Carnival will herald the commencement of various Egungun Festivals across Oyo State.

Olatunbosun explained that a unified date for this cultural festival would further promote our culture and boost the tourism potentials of the State by bringing tourists from all over the world to come and witness the festival. The display by the various Egungun Worshipers would serve to make the celebrations more attractive to the tourists. In his words, “Oyo State being a Pacesetter State, would be hitting the ground running on this dignified cultural propagation and promotion, thus writing history for others to follow.”

The ‘Alagbaas ‘who represented all the zones of the State in their response, unanimously agreed to the concept and promised to work in synergy with the Ministry to make the concept a success. They also promised to rally their members to give unwavering support towards achieving the desirable outcome.

The Egungun Festival is celebrated annually between June and July in Oyo State to pray for peace in the land and entertain the people in a peaceful and relaxed manner.
