Shooting Stars End El-Kanemi Warriors' Unbeaten Run With 3-0 Drubbing

Shooting Stars End El-Kanemi Warriors' Unbeaten Run With 3-0 Drubbing
It was a perfect response from Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) as the Ibadan soccer lords bounced back from last weekend's loss to Niger Tornadoes to wallop El- Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 3-0, at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex.

Goals from Samuel Ayanrinde, Aliyu Abubakar'and substitute Mustapha Adams, ensured Oluyole Warriors secure all points over the visitors who had remained unbeaten prior to the matchday 11 encounter.

The coach Gbenga Ogunbote tutored lads never hide their hunger to get a descent win as they dominated proceedings and equally created more scoring chances

Samuel Ayanrinde opened scoring in the 26th minute, rising to nod home a well delivered cross by Gideon Monday.

Charged by their vociferous fans, the Stars doubled their lead 11 minutes later, when Aliyu Abubakar drove home from an impossible angle, thus giving his side a 2-0 lead into the break.

Apparently aiming for more goals, coach Gbenga Ogunbote introduced Mustapha Adams for Ayanrinde and this paid off in the 62nd minutes when the left footed forwrad's shot caught the El-Kanemi Warriors' goalie napping for the third goal.

The visitors tried to make some statement with their ball distribution, but they could hardly threaten goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal, who enjoyed the coverage from Gali Falke, Muritala Taiye, Desmond Ojietefian and Alex Aghahowa, who defended stoutly to prevent the northerners for finding the back of the net till the end of the game.

The win takes Shooting Stars' points haul to 15 from 11 matches and also moved the team to the 10th position on the log.

Up next for the Oluyole Warriors is a trip to Lagos for a South West derby against elite league debutant Ikorodu City, scheduled for this weekend
