CHOLERA OUTBREAK: ONA-ARA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL FLAGS OFF CHLORINATION EXERCISE AND WATER QUALITY TEST.
In response to the current wave of cholera outbreak ravaging parts of the country, the Chairman of Ona-Ara Local Government Area Dr. Temitope Glorious has flagged off the chlorination exercise and water quality test for all sources of water across the Local Government Area, both private and public private water facilities. The flag off was done during a one day sensitization workshop to promote awareness of cholera disease and how to prevent infection.
The sensitization exercise held at the Ilaji resort international mini stadium is billed to upscale awareness and preventive measures against Cholera. The Chairman of the Council Boss in his address, urged the participants to step down the awareness to all the nooks and crannies of the community to avoid guard against the potential outbreak of the epidemic. He called on people to people to imbibe healthy lifestyle and maintain clean environment.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Council’s Director, Environmental Health Services and Disease Control Department, Sanitariam Popoola Rashidat outlined some of the preventive measures against Cholera to include, treatment of drinking water, provision of hygienic toilet facilities among others.
The workshop tagged: WATER QUALITY CONTROL AS AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF CHOLERA CONTROL featured community leaders, representatives of market unions, schools as well as religious and traditional institutions.
