Over one hundred contingents from which consist of athletes, coaches, sports officers and officials from Oyo State will participate at the forthcoming second edition of National Para Games, scheduled to hold in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory from 7th to 14th December, 2023.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable, Miss Wasilat Adegoke dropped this hint today in Ibadan.
The Commissioner disclosed that the 7 days tournament will involve all the states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory. The sports that Oyo State athletes will feature include Para Athletics; Para Cycling; Para Swimming; Para Canoeing; Para Karate; Para Powerlifting, Para table tennis, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis.
Honourable Wasilat remarked that Oyo State secured second overall position during the first edition of the Para Games held in April 2022.
She said further that "we are optimistic that our athlete will perform creditably well again, considering their level of adequate preparation and vigorous training they have embarked upon for the past six months."
The Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, is billed to address the Oyo State contingents at Adamasingba Sports Complex before their departure on Thursday.
