PROPELLA 2022: BASKETBALL ICONS RECEIVE AWARD OF RECOGNITION AT THE PROPELLA TOURNAMENT




   Six basketball icons were honoured with the award of recognition by the Propella Foundations for their excellent and outstanding performances and their invaluable  and significant contributions to  the progress and development of basketball games in Nigeria.

      The General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde who represented the Chairman. "Arole" Gbenga Adewusi at the Closing Ceremony of the tournament made this disclosure today at the  Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

   According to Mr Makinde, " these distinguished accomplished and seasoned baaketballers have proved their worth in the recent past and they have served in various capacities  by occupying leadership post which they have utilized effectively to move the game forward"

He disclosed further that the awardees include : Pharmacist Lawrence Olaniran Morohunfolu, High Chief Orisabiyi Omotoyebi Peter, Chief Adebayo Lawal, Otunba Babatunde Babalola, Akinlolu Ajayi One and Pierra Isa.

   In recognition of the  ingenuity and dexterity of Oluwatobi Bello  received an instant cash reward for his outstanding performance as the most valuable player during the tournament.

    At the end of the 2 day tournament Hoop Dreams Ambassador Team came first  in the Propella basketball competitions in which 22 teams participated at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba Ibadan





   While responding, the Coordinator of the Propella Foundation, Mr Tunde Popoola said the tournament is the fourth edition in the series which is basically aimed at encouraging the participation of  the youth with a view to nurture their tallest to the fullest and ensuring their active participation in the national and international competitions stressing that the annual tournament has come to stay."

   The hundred Hoop team clinched the second position while their counterpart Ollysan Sports Team won the third position.

     The Royal Father of the day was his Royal Highness, Oba Olatunde Oginni, The Olodogbo of Odogbo- Ijesha, the State of Osun. The tournament was attended by basketball players and enthusiasts across the South western states of Nigeria.
