2024 UTME: HON OYEDEJI OLUSEGUN ABAYOMI MOBILIZE PLWD IN IBADAN SOUTH -WEST LG TO ACCESS FREE REGISTRATION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY DONATED BY JAMB REGISTRATION STARTS TODAY
The supervisory councillor for People Living With Disability in Ibadan South-West local government, Hon. Abayomi Olusegun Oyedeji has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its initiative to provide free application forms to candidates with disabilities aiming to take the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), provided they possess five O’level credits.
Oyedeji gave this commendation while revealing his plans to TUMITE NEWS on effort to mobilize at least 250 members of the PLWD community in the local government to access this free registration form offer.
He stated that the free application documents were issued from resolutions made during the “First National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria,” held on September 26, 2023, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, FCT.
He stated that the creation of the JAMB-Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) to cater to candidates with disabilities, particularly the blind is a rare opportunity with great potential that will improve access to higher education and eliminate financial barriers for physically challenged candidates.
Oyedeji while thanking the Leadership of Jamb led by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede further advocated for more opportunities for the physically challenged community in Nigeria in the areas of free education for candidates with disabilities at all levels, user friendly Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centers for candidates with disability and automatic job placement upon graduation and policy programmes that will benefit disabled candidates.
According to Mr Oloyede announcing that registration for the 2024 matriculation examination will commence on Monday, (today) as issue free application documents to all categories of Persons with Disability as a form of support.
